We are in the middle of the training course “Playing for sustainable change” for educators, and we are happy to share what happened in the first two days of our programme.
Over these days, participants have been getting to know each other through interactive name games, movement activities, walk-and-talk conversations and team-building tasks. We did our best to build a safe learning environment as fast as possible and created a group contract to support us with it.
We then explored our personal relationships with sustainability by creating and sharing comics about “sustainability and me”. These stories opened space for meaningful reflection on our own habits, values and challenges.
Building on this, we introduced the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and discussed together how we feel about where we are at with these goals globally and locally.
The group also had their first experience with LEGO® Serious Play®: learning the basic principles and then using it to build individual and shared models of what a successful sustainability initiative could look like in their local communities – including actions, people involved, context, impact and long-term benefits.
We closed the days with small reflection groups, gathering highlights, insights and questions about the group, the topic and the process so far.
More is coming in the next days of the training, stay tuned!
